1 West Point to continue using race as a factor in admissions:

The Supreme Court is allowing West Point to continue taking race into account in admissions, while a lawsuit over its policies continues. The justices Friday rejected an emergency appeal seeking to force a change in the admissions process at West Point. The order, issued without any noted dissents, comes as the military academy is making decisions on whom to admit for its next entering class, the Class of 2028. The military academy had been explicitly left out of the court’s decision in June that ended affirmativ­e action almost everywhere in college admissions.

Dog rescued after more than a 2 week trapped inside shipping container:

Coast Guard officials say a dog was rescued in Houston after being trapped inside a shipping container for at least eight days, with no food or water. A rescue group, Forever Changed Animal Rescue, has taken her in and is working to get her healthy and ready for adoption. She’s been nicknamed Connie the container dog.

3 Testimony concludes in trial of school shooter’s mom:

Seven days of emotional testimony concluded Friday in the involuntar­y-manslaught­er trial of a Michigan school shooter’s mom that involved evidence about whether she could have prevented the deaths of four students. Jurors will begin their deliberati­ons in the case against Jennifer Crumbley on Monday; the judge decided to send them home for the weekend after attorneys for both sides wrapped up their closing arguments.

4 Wisconsin Supreme Court agrees to hear governor’s lawsuit:

The Wisconsin Supreme Court on Friday agreed to hear Democratic Gov. Tony Evers’ lawsuit against the Republican­controlled Legislatur­e arguing it is obstructin­g basic government functions. The court’s liberal majority agreed to hear the case, with the three conservati­ve justices dissenting. It set oral arguments for April 17.

5 3 killed as plane hits mobile home in Florida:

About 10 people had enjoyed a day of golf and were having drinks inside a woman’s mobile home moments before a small plane crashed and obliterate­d the property in Clearwater, Florida. The pilot and two people on the ground were killed, authoritie­s said.
