1 PRO BASEBALL:

Former AL batting champion Tim Anderson and the Miami Marlins finalized a one-year, $5 million contract Saturday. Anderson, a two-time All-Star shortstop, became Miami’s first big free agent addition of the offseason. The White Sox declined a $14 million option in November. Anderson, 30, was the White Sox’s first-round pick in the 2013 draft and had spent all eight of his major league seasons with Chicago. After leading the majors with a .335 average in 2019, Anderson hit .245 last season, the second-lowest of his career.

2 PRO FOOTBALL:

Chicago Bears great Steve McMichael, who is battling ALS, is home after spending more than a week in the hospital with several ailments, publicist Betsy Shepherd said Friday. McMichael, 66, who went public with an ALS diagnosis three years ago, was admitted into intensive care at a suburban Chicago hospital on Feb. 15 with a urinary tract infection. He was hospitaliz­ed one week after being voted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame for his play at defensive tackle.

3 PRO GOLF:

Local favorite Patty Tavatanaki­t shot a 6-under 66 on Saturday to take a three-stroke lead into the final round of the LPGA Thailand tournament. Tavatanaki­t had a three-round total of 16-under 200 on the Siam Country Club Old Course at Chonburi, southeast of Bangkok. Madelene Sagstrom shot 69.

4 SOCCER:

Jaedyn Shaw scored two goals and the United States went up 3-0 within the first 20 minutes before going on to defeat Argentina 4-0 on Friday night in Carson, Calif., in the CONCACAF Women’s Gold Cup. Shaw, 19, scored in the 10th and 18th minute in her sixth game with the national team. Veteran Alex Morgan added a third goal off a header in the 19th. Lindsey Horan converted a penalty kick in the 77th.

5 PRO GOLF:

Ricardo Gonzalez of Argentina ran off four straight birdies on the back nine Saturday and closed with a 3-under 70 for a one-shot victory in the Trophy Hassan II, giving him membership on the PGA Tour Champions for the first time.
