Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Sunday that 31,000 Ukrainian soldiers have been killed in action in the two years since Russia launched its full-scale invasion.“31,000 Ukrainian military personnel have been killed in this war. Not 300,000, not 150,000, not whatever Putin and his deceitful circle have been lying about. But neverthele­ss, each of these losses is a great sacrifice for us,” Zelenskyy said at the “Ukraine. Year 2024” forum in Kyiv.

The eldest son of Mexico’s president and the governing party’s presidenti­al candidate said Saturday that their telephone numbers were published on social media and that they have received threats and insults. Both denounced the action. The incident came a day after President Andrés Manuel López Obrador disclosed the phone number of a reporter for The New York Times, which published a story about a U.S. probe into claims that López took money from drug trafficker­s. López Obrador denied the allegation­s.

Strong immigratio­n helps slow 3 Canada’s population aging:

Canada’s population aging slowed for a second straight year as a result of strong immigratio­n, including a recent boom in foreign students and temporary workers. The median age — which divides the population into two groups of equal size and is a key measure for a country’s age distributi­on — fell to 40.6 years, from 40.9, over a one-year period to July 1, 2023, according to Statistics Canada data released Wednesday.

4 3 killed in Ohio small plane crash identified as father, son and family friend:

The three people killed when their a small plane crashed shortly after takeoff in southeast Ohio were identified as a father, his son and a family friend on their way to Florida to pick up a newly purchased vehicle over the weekend, authoritie­s said. The pilot, 44-year-old Daniel Baker of Jackson, and his father were on their way to Florida with 45-year-old Zebulon Logan of Lucasville to pick up a vehicle Logan had purchased when their plane went down Saturday.
