1 Trader Joe’s chicken soup dumplings recalled:

More than 61,000 pounds of steamed chicken soup dumplings sold at Trader Joe’s are being recalled for possibly containing hard plastic, U.S. regulators announced Saturday.The Agricultur­e Department’s Food Safety and Inspection Service noted that the now-recalled dumplings, which are produced by the California-based CJ Foods Manufactur­ing Beaumont Corp., may be contaminat­ed with foreign materials — “specifical­ly hard plastic

from a permanent marker pen.”

2 South Korean doctors hold massive anti-government rally:

Thousands of senior doctors rallied in Seoul, the South Korean capital, on Sunday to express their support for junior doctors who have been on strike for nearly two weeks over a government plan to sharply increase the number of medical school admissions. The rally came as the government said it would begin to take steps Monday to suspend the doctors’ licenses of nearly 9,000 medical interns and residents for defying government orders to end their walkouts, which have disrupted hospital operations.

3 Police arrest suspect in abduction of girl:

Police in Texas have arrested a man suspected in the disappeara­nce of a girl who was missing for eight days before she was located alive. Sirterryon Preston, 27, of Houston was charged with evading authoritie­s after he attempted to flee from officers on Friday, the Columbus Police Department said in a social media post Saturday.

4 Pakistan selects Shehbaz Sharif as new prime minister:

Shehbaz Shehbaz Sharif was selected as Pakistan’s prime minister after two old-guard parties formed a coalition to keep jailed politician Imran Khan’s party out of power. Lawmakers voted for the next premier in the National Assembly, or lower house on Sunday with Sharif securing 201 votes. Imran Khanbacked candidate Omar Ayub Khan, a grandson of Pakistan’s first military dictator, got 92 votes. Sharif was prime minister until parliament was dissolved in August in the lead-up to elections.
