1 AUTO RACING: The Red Bull Formula One team will“explode” if Christian Horner stays as team principal, according to Jos Verstappen, father of three-time F1 champion Max Verstappen. The F1 spotlight was almost entirely on Horner in the days leading up to the new season, over his alleged behavior toward a team employee.“There is tension here while he remains in position,”Jos Verstappen told British newspaper the Daily Mail after his son won Saturday’s season-opening race in Bahrain.“The team is in danger of being torn apart. It can’t go on the way it is. It will explode. He (Horner) is playing the victim, when he is the one causing the problems.”

2 PRO MEN’S GOLF: Takahiro Hataji won his first profession­al tournament and became the first Japanese player to win the New Zealand Golf Open when he took out the 103rd edition of the event. Hataji shot a flawless 4-under final round of 67 for a four-round total of 17-under-par to win by a stroke over Australian Scott Hend. Hend came to the 72nd hole tied with Hataji in first place. He hit his tee shot on the par-3 18th to the back of the green, and his putt for the championsh­ip ran past the hole. Hend’s return putt lipped out, leaving with a final round 69, alone in second place.

3 PRO MEN’S GOLF: Jordan Gumberg, an American ranked No. 669, was a surprise winner of the SDC Championsh­ip on the European tour Sunday when he beat Robin Williams in a playoff at Eastern Cape, South Africa. The final round went to a playoff after Williams made double-bogey at the 17th hole to move to 12 under with Gumberg. The 28-year-old Gumberg, who started the day three shots off the lead, holed a birdie putt from around 15 feet at the second playoff hole for victory. Gumberg shot 68 in the final round. Williams shot 69.

4 PRO SOCCER: Phil Foden led a Manchester City rally after an astonishin­g close-in miss by Erling Haaland for a 3-1 Premier League win over Manchester United. City trailed 1-0 at halftime after Marcus Rashford’s longrange strike. Foden had the equalizing goal in the 56th and then a low shot in the 80th minute.
