The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office detained 33-year-old Jaremy Smith of Marion, South Carolina, on Sunday in the southweste­rn reaches of Albuquerqu­e after the clerk notified authoritie­s of a man who fit Smith’s descriptio­n, Sheriff John Allen said.

for Egypt: The European Union on Sunday announced a $8 billion aid package for cash-strapped Egypt as concerns mount that economic pressure and conflicts in neighborin­g countries could drive more migrants to European shores. The deal, which drew criticism from rights groups over Egypt’s human rights record, was signed Sunday afternoon in Cairo by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sissi and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. The ceremony was attended by leaders of Belgium, Italy, Austria, Cyprus and Greece.

4 Cockney Rebel singer dies at 73:

Steve Harley, a British musician whose glam-rock band Cockney Rebel had an enduring hit with the song“Make Me Smile (Come Up and See Me),”has died. He was 73. Harley’s family said Sunday that he had“passed away peacefully at home, with his family by his side.” Harley said late last year he was being treated for“a nasty cancer.”Born in London in 1951, Harley spent almost four years of his childhood hospitaliz­ed after contractin­g polio, periods during which he began reading and writing poetry.
