1 Wright ‘s extra travel nets pair of extra-time goals for U.S.:

Haji Wright was at an airport in England last weekend about to leave for Dubai when Gregg Berhalter asked him to join the American roster. Wright did, and he scored twice in extra time late Thursday as the Americans rallied past Jamaica 3-1 — after an own goal by Jamaica in stoppage time prompted extra time. Wright had not played for the U.S. since the 2022 World Cup . Both of Wright’s goals were set up by Gio Reyna, who entered at the start of the second half. The U.S. will try Sunday against Mexico to win the Nations League for the third straight time.

2 Pelicans’ Ingram expected to be sidelined at least 2 weeks:

The New Orleans Pelicans say forward Brandon Ingram has a bone bruise in his left knee that is expected to sideline him at least two weeks. Ingram hyperexten­ded his knee during Thursday night’s loss at Orlando and was helped off the court. He underwent an imaging overnight. Ingram has averaged 20.9 points this season and his prognosis leaves open the possibilit­y that he could return before the end of the regular season. The Pelicans entered Friday night’s game at Miami with a 42-27 record and are in the thick of the Western Conference playoff picture.

3 Former footballer Robinho jailed in rural penitentia­ry:

Former footballer Robinho is an inmate at Tremembe penitentia­ry in rural Sao Paulo state — he is expected to serve at least 40% of his nine-year sentence for raping a woman in Italy. Brazil criminal law states the likes of Robinho, 40, could get a more flexible jail regime for good behavior in prison.

4 Welsh rugby star steals NFL pro day spotlight at South Florida:

Welsh rugby star Louis ReesZammit, one of the sport’s best wingers, was the center of attention at the University of South Florida’s pro day. The talented 23-year-old is trying out as a running back/wide receiver/returner. He displayed good hands and was quick in and out of his routes while running an official 40-yard dash time of 4.43 seconds.
