Pizza place in Fayette fails health inspection

Peachtree City eatery had issues with storage and date markings.

Karvelas Pizza in Peachtree City failed a routine health inspection with several foodborne illness risk factors.

Employees did not keep of how long the pizza was away from temperature controls. Raw chicken wings were stored with precooked French fries in a cooler. Prepared foods in the walk-in cooler were not datemarked for disposal.

Karvelas Pizza scored 51/U, down from 80/B. It will be reinspected.

Several dented cans were in storage, and containers were stacked while wet.

A bottle of over-the-counter medicine was stored with the food, and employee drinks and other containers were on food contact surfaces.

Employees could not access hand sinks. Paper towels were missing from both sinks in the kitchen, and items were stored in the basin of another sink.

The facility had no signed employee documents on health reporting requirements.
