1 PRO FOOTBALL:

The Patriots are re-signing safety Kyle Dugger, 28, to a four-year contract, a person with knowledge of the situation told The Associated Press. The new deal is worth a base salary of $58 million and has a maximum value of $66 million, according to the person who spoke on condition of anonymity because terms have not been announced. Dugger, who played at Whitewater High School in Fayettevil­le, Ga., started all 17 games last season and led the Pats with 71 solo tackles and two intercepti­ons. He has nine intercepti­ons and 343 tackles over the past four seasons since being drafted in the second round out of Lenoir-Rhyne in 2020.

2 PRO WOMEN’S TENNIS:

Danielle Collins powered to a second straight WTA title, following her Miami Open victory with the Charleston (S.C.) Open championsh­ip. Collins beat Daria Kasatkina 6-2, 6-1. She became the first since Serena Williams in 2013 to win Miami and Charleston in consecutiv­e weeks. Collins, 30, has said this season will be her last on the WTA Tour because she’s suffering from endometrio­sis.

3 RUNNING:

Ethiopians Mulugeta Uma and Mestawut Fikir won the men’s and women’s Paris Marathon at their first attempt. Uma clocked a winning time of 2 hours, 5 minutes, 33 seconds and finished ahead of Kenyan pair Titus Kipruto (2:05.48) and 2021 champion Elisha Rotich (2:06.54). Fikir was pushed harder than Uma and only pulled ahead of countrywom­an Enat Tirusew on the home stretch. Tirusew was right alongside her when Fikir darted away to win in 2:20:45, with Tirusew three seconds behind. Kenya’s 40-year-old Vivian Cheruiyot placed third in 2:21.46.

4 PRO BASEBALL:

All-Star J.D. Martinez’s debut with the Mets will be delayed as the veteran continues to ramp up physically after signing late in spring training, manager Carlos Mendoza said.“We’re not going to see him in a while,”Mendoza said.“We knew he was going to need a lot of time. Not only with the timing and the mechanics, but overall with his body.”The 36-year-old Martinez finalized a $12 million, one-year contract with the Mets on March 24.
