Marietta restaurant left food exposed

El Jefe Taqueria on South Cobb Drive failed a routine health inspection with numerous foods unprotected and at unsafe temperatures.

Tortillas and birria sauce, raw fish and cut pineapple in various coolers were uncovered and unprotected from contamination.

El Jefe Taqueria, 1977 S. Cobb Drive, Marietta, scored 69/U, down from 80/B. It will be re-inspected.

Beans and a steak and pepper mixture held in a steam well were out of the temperature range. Various cooked meats on the flat top grill were also at unsafe temperatures. Multiple foods in the coolers were also out of the temperature range and were discarded. These included cheese, potatoes, salsa, cooked pork and shredded lettuce.

The cooked potatoes and cacti were not cooling correctly to prevent contamination. Both were placed into an ice bath for quicker cooling.

Among other violations, cleaning buckets had inadequate amounts of sanitizer, and one bucket was stored in a hand sink.
