1 Judge bans X from sharing video of stabbing:

An Australian judge on Monday ruled that social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, must block every user in the world from accessing video of a bishop being stabbed in a Sydney church, extending the prohibitio­n beyond users in Australia. X Corp. announced last week it would fight in court Australian orders to take down posts relating to a knife attack on Bishop Mar Mari Emmanuel in an Assyrian Orthodox church as a service was being streamed online April 15. The material was geoblocked from Australia but remained available elsewhere.

2 Crash at car race kills 7 spectators:

A race car veered off the track during a competitio­n in Sri Lanka and rammed into a crowd of spectators and race officials, killing seven people and injuring 20 others, officials said. Thousands of spectators looked on as the mishap took place during a race in the town of Diyatalawa in the tea-growing central hills, about 110 miles east of the capital Colombo. It wasn’t immediatel­y clear what caused the incident.

Designer sent to prison for 3 smuggling crocodile bags:

A fashion designer whose accessorie­s were used by celebritie­s from Britney Spears to the cast of the“Sex and the City”TV series was sentenced to 18 months in prison after pleading guilty in Miami federal court on charges of smuggling crocodile handbags from her native Colombia. Nancy Gonzalez was arrested in 2022 in Cali, Colombia, and later extradited to the U.S. for running a sprawling multiyear conspiracy that involved recruiting couriers to transport her handbags on commercial flights to high-end showrooms and New York fashion events — all in violation of U.S. wildlife laws.

Ohio investigat­es officer’s 4 death in training exercise:

The fatal shooting of an Ohio officer during a training exercise at a state correction­s department facility earlier this month is being investigat­ed as a possible reckless homicide, according to a published report. The April 9 shooting at the Correction­al Training Academy in Pickaway County killed 43-year-old Ohio Correction­s Lt. Rodney Osborne, who was shot once in the center of his upper chest, according to the Columbus Dispatch. He was taken to a hospital but died there a short time later.

Hong Kong bans single-use 5 plastics:

Legislatio­n aiming to stop the sale and distributi­on of Styrofoam products and singleuse plastic cutlery went into effect in Hong Kong on Monday. Under the new law, single-use cutlery such as forks, spoons, straws and plates cannot be sold or distribute­d for both dine-in and takeaway customers. However, plastic food containers and cups can still be given out for takeaways.
