1 Ukrainian Army chief says Russia dominates front:

Fighting has become more heated along the front line in eastern Ukraine, with Russia exploiting its advantage over Kyiv’s forces along several axes, Ukraine’s top soldier said.“In an attempt to seize the strategic initiative and break through the front line, the enemy has concentrat­ed its main efforts on a number of directions,” army commanderi­n-chief Oleksandr Syrskyi said.

2 10 people wounded by gunfire in Florida:

Gunfire wounded 10 people early Sunday when an argument turned violent at a Florida party venue. None of the victims suffered life-threatenin­g injuries, the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office said. Deputies arrested a 16-year-old at the scene of the shootings, which happened shortly after midnight. A large crowd was gathered for a late-night event at Cabana Live in Sanford, about 20 miles north of Orlando, when gunshots were fired. The sheriff’s office said the wounded people were primarily hit in their lower extremitie­s.

3 Macron raises specter of nuclear weapons in defense of Europe:

French President Emmanuel Macron raised the stakes in his call for a credible European defense by adding nuclear weapons to the discussion. After setting out the need for Europe to come up with a plan to defend itself in a more hostile world during a speech last week, Macron went a step further in an effort to push ahead on talks with other European countries.“I’m in favor of opening this debate, which needs to include missile defense, long-range missiles and nuclear weapons for those who have them or who have American nuclear weapons on their soil,” Macron said.

4 Tornado kills 5 in China:

A tornado that swept through the southern Chinese economic hub of Guangzhou killed five people and damaged scores of factory buildings Saturday. The twister struck about 3 p.m. and injured 33 people as it slammed through the Baiyun district, in the city’s northern suburbs, the local government said. It lasted about four minutes.
