Former Jackets set for NFL minicamps
Paul Moala, Jaylon King, Andre White invited for tryouts.
Former Georgia Tech linebacker Paul Moala has received a rookie minicamp invitation from the Chicago Bears, Tech announced Monday.
Moala spent one season with the Yellow Jackets and was fifth on the team in tackles, with 65. He started all 13 games and tied for the team high in tackles for loss, with 11, and was second among Jackets in sacks, with four.
Moala was Tech’s eighthrated overall defender, according to Pro Football Focus, in 2023 and its second-best pass rusher. Moala also forced three fumbles during the season, including one at Miami that led to Tech’s last-minute win.
Moala began college at Notre Dame, playing in 23 games over four seasons. He spent the 2022 season at Idaho and played in 12 games, making 61 tackles (seven for a loss) and two sacks.
Safety King pursues opportunity with Jets
Former Georgia Tech safety Jaylon King was invited to rookie minicamp with the New York Jets.
King battled injuries throughout his career but finished strong, with 69 tackles and a team-leading four interceptions in 2023. He was third among Yellow Jackets in total tackles last season and had two games with at least eight.
In a Nov. 23 win over Virginia, King had four of his nine pass breakups for the season. King was Tech’s fifth-best rated defender in 2023, according to Pro Football Focus, and played more defensive snaps (722) than any of his teammates.
Giants extend invite to LB White
Former Tech linebacker Andre White was invited to rookie minicamp with the New York Giants, according to the Draft Network.
White spent one season with the Yellow Jackets and made 24 tackles in 11 games. He had a season-high three stops in an October win at Miami and was the team’s toprated pass rusher, according to Pro Football Focus.
White played in 40 games in four seasons at Texas A&M. He had 139 tackles (10.5 tackles for a loss), 5.5 sacks, an interception, six pass breakups, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery during his time with the Aggies.
