PRO BASEBALL: The Minnesota Twins reinstated closer Jhoan Duran from the 15-day injured list Tuesday, after a strained right oblique muscle kept him out of the team’s first 28 games. Duran was hurt while warming up for a live batting practice session in spring training. The right-hander made two appearances in Triple-A last week on a rehabilitation assignment, allowing two runs on four hits with five strikeouts in two innings. The 26-year-old has a 2.15 ERA with 173 strikeouts in 130 innings over his first two major league seasons. He has 35 career saves.

PRO BASKETBALL: The Minnesota Timberwolves will enter their second-round playoff series against defending champion Denver with an unsettled bench — coach Chris Finch will be recovering from knee surgery. Finch, who was hurt in a sideline collision with Timberwolves point guard Mike Conley, will have his ruptured right patellar tendon repaired today, according to a person with knowledge of the plan. The surgery will leave Finch with only three days of recovery before Game 1 in Denver, and this type of procedure typically requires the leg to be immobilized for longer than that.

PRO BASKETBALL: Brad Stevens was announced Tuesday as the NBA’s executive of the year. It’s the first such award for Stevens, who is in his third season as president of basketball operations for the Boston Celtics after serving as their coach for eight seasons. The Celtics were an NBA-best 64-18 in the regular season. The voting panel for the award consisted of team basketball executives from around the NBA.

PRO BASKETBALL: Kawhi Leonard will miss Game 5 of the Los Angeles Clippers’ tight first-round series against the Dallas Mavericks tonight due to right knee inflammation. Leonard was ruled out by Clippers coach Tyronn Lue on Tuesday. The six-time All-Star will sit out for the third time in the series’ five games. Leonard missed Game 1 and Game 4 of the series after missing the final eight games of the regular season with right knee pain. Leonard returned to play in Games 2 and 3.

PRO BASKETBALL: New York Knicks swingman Bojan Bogdanovic will have surgery on his left foot and miss the rest of the playoffs. Bogdanovic, who had played well off the bench to help the Knicks take a 3-1 lead over the Philadelphia 76ers, was hurt in Game 4 on Sunday when Nicolas Batum fell on his leg while they chased a loose ball. The Knicks didn’t specify the nature of the injury Tuesday or when Bogdanovic would have surgery. They said he would be evaluated again in three months.
