1 PRO BASKETBALL: The Indiana Pacers have, as coach Rick Carlisle said they would, sent 78 plays they believe were officiated incorrectl­y from the first two games of their series against the New York Knicks to the NBA office for review, a person with knowledge of the action said Thursday.“I’m always talking to our guys about not making it about the officials,”Carlisle said after Game 2 on Wednesday, a 130-121 win for host New York that gave the Knicks a 2-0 lead in the series.“We deserve a fair shot. There’s not a consistent balance, and that’s disappoint­ing. Give New York credit for the physicalit­y that they’re playing with. But their physicalit­y is rewarded and ours is penalized, time after time.”

HORSE RACING: Maryland Gov. 2 Wes Moore signed a measure Thursday to rebuild Baltimore’s historic but antiquated Pimlico Race Course and transfer the track to state control. Under the new law, Maryland can use $400 million in state bonds to rebuild the home of the second jewel of horse racing’s Triple Crown, the Preakness Stakes. The 149th running of the race is set for May 18. Under the plan, the Preakness would relocate to Laurel Park in 2026, while the new facility is being built, before returning to Pimlico, likely in 2027.

PRO GOLF: Hideki Matsuyama 3 withdrew with a back injury from the Wells Fargo Championsh­ip in Charlotte before the start of Thursday’s first round. Matsuyama, the world’s 15th-ranked golfer, has not played since finishing tied for 38th at the Masters last month. The announceme­nt came just minutes before Matsuyama’s scheduled tee time; he was not replaced in the field.

4 PRO FOOTBALL: The New York Giants signed wide receiver Allen Robinson to a free-agent contract two months after Robinson was cut by the Pittsburgh Steelers in a costsaving move. The 30-year-old Robinson is a veteran presence in a receivers room adding first-round draft pick Malik Nabers. Robinson started all 17 games for the Steelers last season and caught 34 balls for 280 yards, both career lows except for the 2017 season when an injury limited him to one game.
