Crew of NASA’s earthbound 1 simulated Mars habitat emerge after a year:

The crew of a NASA mission to Mars emerged from their craft after a yearlong voyage that never left Earth. The four volunteer crew members spent more than 12 months inside NASA’s first simulated Mars environmen­t at Johnson Space Center in Houston, coming out of the artificial alien environmen­t Saturday around 5 p.m. Kelly Haston, Anca Selariu, Ross Brockwell and Nathan Jones entered the 3D-printed habitat on June 25, 2023, as the maiden crew of the space agency’s Crew Health and Performanc­e Exploratio­n Analog project.

2 Authoritie­s say 2 rescued, 1 dead, 1 missing after boat capsizes on Lake Erie:

Authoritie­s suspended the search for a missing boater in Lake Erie after rescuing two others and pulling another person from the water Saturday who later died. The two, a man and a woman, were wearing life jackets. A Coast Guard crew rescued another man, who was unresponsi­ve and later pronounced dead at a Clevelanda­rea hospital. Coast Guard crews found a 23-foot boat in the area capsized and partially submerged.

3 Jon Landau, Oscar-winning “Titanic” and “Avatar” producer, dies at 63:

Jon Landau, an Oscarwinni­ng producer who worked closely with director James Cameron on three of the biggest blockbuste­rs of all time, “Titanic”and two“Avatar”films, has died. He was 63. Landau’s family announced his death Saturday. No cause of death was given, though Variety.com reported it was cancer.

4 New British PM seeks to improve on “botched” trade deal:

New British Prime Minister Keir Starmer is seeking to reset relations at home and abroad. During a visit Sunday to Edinburgh that he billed as an“immediate reset”with the regional government­s of Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales, Starmer said he would seek to improve the U.K.’s “botched”trade deal with the European Union.“I do think that we can get a much better deal than the botched deal that (former Prime Minister) Boris Johnson saddled the U.K. with,”he said in reference to the pact negotiated after Brexit.
