Thursday January 2:

Saturday January 4:

Eclectic Soul Elementary Yoga- From 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. kids ages 6 to 11 are welcomed at the Essex Library for a yoga class. Yoga offers confidence, movement and mind and body awareness for young students and caregivers. Children under 8 must be accompanie­d by an adult.

The Hall Closet Thrift Shop- Located at Orems United Methodist Church at 1020 Orems Road, Middle River, MD 21220 will be open Saturday, from 8:30 a.m. to 12 Noon. Lots of items, collectibl­es, adult and children clothing, toys, books, jewelry, housewares and bedding. All reasonably priced. 410-687-9483. Marshy Point Nature Center Surviving Winter

Workshop- From 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. learn how humans have been able to withstand winter conditions through history. Dress for the weather as we will go outside and build a shelter!

Monday January 6:

Meeting w/ SHA About 3-Way Stop At

Eastern Ave & Tidewater Ln.- From 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. come to Bowleys Quarters Volunteer Fire Rescue & Marine located 900 Bowleys Quarters Rd in Middle River for this community meeting. SHA has agreed to host a community input meeting regarding the proposed all-way stop at the intersecti­on of Eastern Avenue and Tidewater Lane. This will be your one opportunit­y to voice your thoughts on the installati­on of these stops signs. Please come out to the Bowleys Quarters Volunteer Fire Department on January 6 to offer your opinion.

Wednesday January 8:

Rock the Rink at The Avenue- Starting at 7:00 p.m. come to the ice rink at the Avenue of White Marsh Mall located at 8125 Honeygo Blvd. for Rock on the Rink! We’re going #ALLCAPS at the outdoor ice rink with an appearance by Slapshot, giveaways, Capitals-themed specials at surroundin­g restaurant­s/eateries – Plus, a DJ to rock the rink! In addition, fans wearing Caps gear will receive compliment­ary skate rental during this event. Costs to ice skate are: 13 & over $9, 12 & under $8.00, seniors $8.00, skate rental is $5.00. Valid for 2 hours starting at time of purchase.

Friday January 17 to Saturday February 1:

Baltimore County Restaurant Week- Costas Inn, Liberatore’s and Michael’s cafe are just some of the restaurant­s around town participat­ing in this week long event. The semi-annual culinary event was created to allow people to explore their nearby eateries with special pricing and menus. It also pushes people to try new things and to “promote Baltimore County’s local flavor.”

Saturday January 18:

Family Fun Day at Glenn Martin Aviation Museum- At 1:00 p.m. at the museum, located at 701 Wilson Point Rd in Middle River, come learn about Glenn L. Martin, participat­e in a family scavenger hunt, enjoy some birthday cupcakes to celebrate Glenn L. Marin’s Birthday!

Wednesday January 22: Maryland’s Best Food and Beverage

Expo- The Maryland Department of Agricultur­e will host the Maryland’s Best Food & Beverage Expo in Annapolis. The Maryland’s Best Expo provides an opportunit­y for Maryland farmers, seafood producers, and processors to connect with buyers from grocery retailers, restaurant­s, schools, food distributo­rs, and other venues. This year the event will be held in the “N” Room at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis—the same location as last year.
