Let someone else cook for Mom this weekend

- BY STEFANI DIAS sdias@bakersfield.com

We’re now just a few days away from the big day to celebrate Mom. If you’re the procrastinating type, you’re still in luck — at least in terms of sharing a meal. A number of restaurants still have brunch and family meal options available to order.

If your mom is anything like mine, she’s a fan of Basque food and should be happy to learn that Wool Growers is again offering takeout. Although the restaurant is closed Sunday, you can still order an early celebration meal for the family to pick up through Saturday.

Family dinners for four include roasted potatoes, vegetable of the day, rolls, butter and choice of entree, which sets the price. Cost is $34 for fried chicken (eight pieces) or four pork chops, or $64 for four filet mignon (cooked medium rare). Options also include a dinner ($60) with 2 quarts of soup, 1 quart of beans, 1 pint of salsa, 1 pint of tomatoes, spaghetti, vegetables and roasted potatoes in trays, green salad, and rolls and butter. Entrees are sold a la carte.

Go to woolgrowers.net/takeout-dinner-menu

or the restaurant’s Facebook page (Facebook.com/WoolGrowers) for more details. Call 327-9584 to order.
