PAUL WILLIAM BAMBROOK
February 22, 1929 — October 1, 2020
Paul Bambrook's life began on February 22, 1929 in Albia, Iowa. He grew up on the family farm where he developed a strong work ethic. In his late twentie’s he moved to Bakersfield, California with his wife, Donna, and their daughter, to pursue a 30 year career with the Sheet Metal Workers' International Assosciation. He focused on air conditioning projects doing commercial construction.
Paul loved his family and had a special empathy for babies, especially his too daughters and son. After Donna's death, Paul married Carol, and gained another daughter! During their 29 years together the family grew to include 7 gran-dchildren and 7 great gran-dchildren with one on the way. These children were his pride and joy!
Paul had a quiet, keen sense of humor that sparked much family laughter. There was always a twinkle in his eye. He loved his work, enjoyed travel, and was an active leader and participant in the College Heights Congregational Church. The world's Depression during Paul's youth meant days of hard work on the farm and left no time for sports.
As a dad, though, he played tennis with his children and enjoyed softball. His deep passion was track and field. He competed in the National Senior Olympics in numerous events, and held the Long Jump world record in his age division for a few months!
Paul was preceded in death by Donna, grand-daughter Elizabeth Ann, parents Cornelius and Anna, 3 brothers and a sister. He leaves his wife, Carol; daughters Paula Gould [Geoff], Julie Lofy [Steve], Diane Tiede [Shawn], and son Jeff [Jeff Wahl]; his sister, Marilyn Davis [Richard]; and his "grand" and great grandchildren.
Paul's death came after a lingering illness with Carol and her daughter, Diane, by his side. He was surrounded by his family's love, and the care of Hoffman Hospice. A Zoom service will be held at 10 A.M on December 12, 2020. Those desiring to participate are asked to send their email address to crlsplace@yahoo.com.
