On December 4, 2020 Cynthia Anne Torigiani passed away at her home from pancreatic cancer. She was preceded in death by her father Russell H Paul Jr., mother Jean (Steiger) Paul and father-in-law Oliver Torigiani. She is survived by husband of 49 years David Torigiani, daughter Mary Lehman (Scott), grandson Thomas, sisters Kathi Hinckley (Steve) and Candy Wilson (Desmond), sister-in-law Christine Clark, mother-in-law Norma Torigiani and numerous nieces and nephews.

Cynthia was born in 1950 in Santa Maria, CA but spent most of her life growing up in the town of Shafter, CA and attended Shafter High School, where she met future husband David. She graduated from Bakersfiel­d College where she was a baton twirler for the band. After marrying David in 1971, they moved to Buttonwill­ow where she was involved in the community serving as Secretary and President for the Buttonwill­ow Chamber of Commerce. She enjoyed dancing and choreograp­hing for many years in the town’s annual Mayor’s Race. She also enjoyed assisting numerous young women in the Jr. Miss program.

After raising daughter Mary, Cynthia and David later moved to Bakersfiel­d where she went back to school and graduated from CSUB at the top of her class and earned her teaching credential. She taught for 11 years and served as vice-principal at Our Lady of Guadalupe grammar school before retiring. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and painting.

The family would like to thank Hoffmann Hospice for their care of Cyndy, especially nurses Michelle and Jackie and ask that donations be made to Hoffmann Hospice In lieu of flowers.

A Catholic funeral mass will be held on Tuesday December 15, 2020 at 10:00 am at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. Graveside services will follow at Shafter Cemetery. Please be respectful and practice social distancing and wear a mask.
