LOIS ANN COOMBS

1929 - 2022

-

Lois Ann Davis was born to parents Earl and Hattie Davis on July 16, 1929 in Ford City, California. She had two older brothers and when she was eight years old, the family moved to Bakersfield.

Ann graduated from Bakersfield High School in 1947. While a student there, her bus driver was Cecil Coombs, who became her husband in 1948. They were married for 60 years, until Cecil's passing in 2008.

Family and home were Ann's passions. Together with her husband, they built a small house in 1949, where they raised two children, Don and Kathy. As the family expanded, so did their house. They were constantly remodeling and redecorating, and they both loved their home. Cecil was able to live at home until he passed, as did Ann. She lived in their home for 73 years, until her death on April 25, 2022. Ann liked nothing better than an orderly house, a cake in the oven, and flowers growing in the yard. The hummingbirds and doves made her home theirs and brought her great joy.

Ann was predeceased by her beloved husband, her parents, and her two brothers, Joe Davis and Ken (Mary Jo) Davis, along with a multitude of loved family and friends.

She is survived by her son Don (Suzanne) Coombs and her daughter Kathy Hill. She had four treasured grandchildren, Patrick and Christopher Coombs, Jeff (Maria Simón) Hill and Kara (Alejandro McKenzie) Hill, all of whom were lights in her life, each one being a favorite! She was also blessed with the gift of greatgrandchildren: Chloé, Mateo, Perry, and a baby girl soon to arrive. Ann's loyalty to family and friends was absolute, and that was her legacy.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to Project Night Night, 148 Beulah St., San Francisco, CA 94117 or the website ProjectNightNight.org.

Graveside service will be Friday, May 6, 10:00 at Greenlawn Northeast.
