BPD seeks to ID suspect in robbery try

The Bakersfiel­d Police Department is asking for the public’s help to find a suspect accused of attempted robbery.

The incident happened June 10 at 76 gas station at 1720 S. Union Ave., a BPD news release said. The suspect is a Hispanic man in his twenties. He weighs about 165 pounds, and was wearing a red jacket, gray shirt, mask and gray pants.

Two women and a teenager were arrested in connection to a robbery at Rite Aid on Calloway Drive, the Bakersfiel­d Police Department said in a news release.

Police officers responded to a robbery report at 10:57 a.m. Tuesday at Rite Aid, 1107 Calloway Drive. Three people went into the store and smashed a display case with a hammer, according to police. The suspects left after police said they took perfume and cologne.

The hammer was also brandished at staff, BPD added in the news release.

BPD officers then found a suspect’s vehicle at Actis Junior High School around 11:34 a.m. Tuesday. The school was “briefly” placed on lockdown as the suspects were apprehende­d, the news release added.

Bakersfiel­d residents Serina Aguirre, 20, Itisonie Robinson, 21 and a 16-year-old boy were arrested on suspicion of robbery and conspiracy. Some of the items that police said were taken by these suspects were found, the news release added.

The Bakersfiel­d Police Department is looking for a man who police said fired several gunshots at a person in a 7/11 convenienc­e store.

Police officers got to the 7/11, located at 525 W. Columbus St., Tuesday afternoon. One man was arguing with two other men in the business, the BPD said in a news release.

A man then fired gunshots at another, though no one was injured. Everyone involved fled before police arrived, the news release noted.

A woman inside the 7/11 fell during the shooting and was taken to a hospital with a nonlife threatenin­g injury.

No arrests have been made and there is no suspect informatio­n for public release, police said.

Two people were arrested in connection to a shooting in an apartment complex, the Bakersfiel­d Police Department said in a news release.

Responding officers did not find any victims, but found multiple bullet casings of different calibers after responding at 5:10 p.m. Monday in the 500 block of Lansing Drive.

Multiple men exchanged gunfire during an argument and fled, police said. Police then served a search warrant to an apartment in the 5100 block of Marsha Street and found several firearms, which police said were unlawfully possessed.

Kristi Williams, 23, and Alron Patterson, 22, were arrested in connection to the shooting, prohibited weapons possession and conspiracy.

The Kern County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a man accused of carjacking.

KCSO said in a news release that an industrial sprayer truck, and a victim’s phone and debit card, were taken at gunpoint by two men on May 26. A gunshot was fired, but the victim was uninjured, the news release stated.

One suspect, Maximo Portillo, 42, of Lamont was arrested in connection to the carjacking incident. The second man is unidentifi­ed.

The California Department of Justice said Wednesday personal informatio­n was released to the public after it updated an online database containing informatio­n about firearms.

The update happened Monday and revealed names, dates of birth, gender, race, driver’s license number, addresses and criminal history of those who were granted or denied a concealed or carry weapons permit between 2011 to 2021. Other databases such as firearm safety certificat­es, assault weapons registry and others were affected as well.

Social Security numbers or financial informatio­n was not disclosed, the state attorney general’s office noted.

The department removed the private informatio­n from public view within 24 hours. The state DOJ will inform affected people. The Kern County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release it reached out to the state DOJ to see if Kern residents were affected, but has not heard back.

Officials also told the public that sharing personal informatio­n while possessing or using private details for an unlawful purpose could be a crime.

Residents should monitor their credit, consider freezing their credit and place a fraud alert on their credit report.
