1 dead in northwest shooting; 1 suspect arrested

A suspect was arrested in the shooting death of a man Tuesday evening.

Kern County sheriff’s deputies went to the 7200 block of Cranbrook Avenue after they were notified of a shooting and found the victim. His identity has not been released.

A KCSO spokespers­on didn’t immediatel­y know the suspect’s name.

The Kern County coroner’s office identified a Wasco man who was

found dead inside a home that caught fire.

Juan E. Lopez, 76, died at 12:43 a.m. Sunday in the 800 block of Filburn Street. Kern County firefighte­rs found his body after they extinguish­ed the fire, according to the coroner’s office.

The cause and manner of death will be released after a postmortem examinatio­n, the coroner added in a Tuesday news release.

The Kern County coroner’s office identified a man found dead in a

Lamont playground on Monday.

Carlos Manuel Ramirez, 20, died in the 10000 block of San Diego Street, though the coroner did not say in a Tuesday new release when he died. Ramirez was found by Kern County sheriff’s deputies.

A man died Monday evening after hitting a parked semi tractor.

Bakersfiel­d Police Department officers went to the 6900 block of Spring Creek Loop to investigat­e a single vehicle traffic incident. A preliminar­y investigat­ion shows the vehicle was traveling at a “high rate of speed,” drifted and then struck an occupied, parked semi tractor, according to a BPD news release.

The Kern County coroner identified the deceased man as Bakersfiel­d man Jose De Jesus Cipres-Zamudio, 37. He died at the scene, the coroner said.

The Bakersfiel­d Police Department is looking for a man last

seen Monday who’s considered at risk because of a mental health condition.

Derrick Richard Austin, 25, was last seen around 1 p.m. in the 6000 block of Chandler Street wearing a black leather jacket, a red polo shirt, ripped blue jeans and black slippers. He is around 5 feet, 7 inches tall with blond hair and brown eyes.

The Bakersfiel­d Police Department is asking for help to find

fraud suspects.

It happened around

2:24 p.m. Oct. 20 at Best Buy, 8300 Rosedale Highway.

The suspects are two white men. One, top, is in his late 40s and was wearing a white Nike ball cap, white T-shirt, black shorts, a black saddle bag and has tattoos covering his lower right arm.

The second suspect, bottom, is in his 30s to 40s and has brown hair. He was wearing a black hat, black shirt, with tattoos on his arms and under his right eye.

Their vehicle is a white Chevrolet with possible black rims. A license plate is unknown.
