KCSO announces 19 new promotions

The Kern County Sheriff’s Office held a promotion ceremony Wednesday for 19 staff members.

“We look at the people who are getting promoted and moving up in the organizati­on (and) we realize not only are we in good hands, but our community is in good hands,” KCSO Sheriff Donny Youngblood said.

Here are their new titles:

The Bakersfiel­d Police Department is asking the

community to help find two women accused of burglarizi­ng a home in the 300 block of T Street.

It is unclear when the incident happened.

A suspect descriptio­n includes two white women with a stocky build and blond hair in their 30s to 40s. Both are between 5 feet, 3 inches tall to 5 feet, 7 inches tall and weigh about 200 pounds, BPD wrote in a news release.

One woman was wearing hoop earrings, a light-colored sweatshirt, blue jeans and light-colored tennis shoes. Another woman was wearing a white hooded sweatshirt, black pants and black slip-on shoes, police wrote.

Anyone who may have informatio­n about this incident is asked to call BPD at 661-347-7111.

A Delano child was arrested by Kern County

probation officers March 2 after a gun and ammunition were reportedly found in the youth’s residence.

Officers went to the 900 block of Susan Drive and found one silver and black Smith & Wesson .40 caliber handgun and two Smith & Wesson magazines with live ammunition were found in the house.

The child was booked on suspicion of firearm and weapon-related offenses, according to the Kern County Probation Department.

A 73-year-old Bakersfiel­d woman who died in a car

collision on Merle Haggard Drive has been identified by the Kern County coroner’s

office.

Maria Guadalupe Arce died at Kern Medical at 6:22 p.m. March 1 after crashing at 3:42 p.m. that day, the coroner said.

Police are looking for a 15-year-old runaway girl

who was last seen in February, the Bakersfiel­d Police Department said in a news release.

Destiny Perez, who has black hair and brown eyes, was wearing a blue hoodie with a white “Polo” logo, black jeans and black shoes and was last seen in the 1000 block of Lake Street at about 7 p.m. Feb. 26. She’s about 5 feet, 3 inches tall and weighs 135 pounds, the news release said.

A Rosamond man who died after a violent assault was

identified by the Kern County coroner’s office.

Freddy Orlando Herrera

Jr., 32, was shot March 2 in the 2800 block of 28th Street and died at Antelope Valley Hospital at 8:45 p.m. that day.

A California City man who died after he collided into a

semitruck was identified Wednesday by the Kern County coroner’s office.

Dekarriay Rayvion Burrell, 25, died at 1:52 p.m. Tuesday on Highway 58 and California City Boulevard at the scene of the crash.

The Kern County coroner’s office said Wednesday that

an inmate imprisoned at the North Kern State Prison died after a person strangled him.

Ariel Barragan Torres, 45, was found unresponsi­ve in his cell Feb. 8 with his cellmate Matthew Holverstot­t, 44. Torres died at 9:41 p.m. that day.

Torres was serving a two-year sentence for having child pornograph­y of someone under 18 years old from San Mateo County. Hoverstott was sentenced to life with the possibilit­y of parole from Sacramento County for second-degree murder and injury to an elder causing death and/or great bodily injury.
