Friday
CSUB Basque Studies Symposium, starts at 1 p.m., Humanities Complex, Room 1108 on campus, 9001 Stockdale Highway 1 p.m. : “Agenda 2030: Education for Sustainability in the Basque Autonomous Community” with Leire Agirreazkuenaga, postdoctoral researcher, UCLA School of Education and Information Studies 1:30 p.m.: “No Taxation Without Representation: Past, Present, and Future of the Basque Economic Agreement” with Joseba Agirreazkuenaga, professor of History, University of the Basque Country: 2 p.m.: “The Challenge of Tax Citizenship: An Examination from a Political Philosophy Perspective” with Esteban Antxustegi, professor of political philosophy, University of the Basque Country 2:30 p.m.: Refreshment break
3 p.m.: “They Say It Best When They Say Nothing At All: Interviews with Basque Immigrants to the U.S.” with Asier Barandiaran, professor of Basque philology, University of the Basque Country 3:30 p.m.: “Kern County Basque World War II Veterans” with Pedro Oiarzabal, project director of the “Fighting Basques of WWII” Memoria Bizia
4 p.m.: “Urrun — Far Away” with Olatz Gorrotxategi, Frank Bidart visiting artist at CSUB
Saturday
8 a.m: Mus (card game) tournament, $40 per person, includes lunch; $500 for firstplace team, $250 for second place Noon to 1 p.m.: Lunch of chicken, rice, red peppers, salad, beans, bread and cheese ($25, $20 for children 12 and younger) 2:30 p.m.: Pelota (handball) games featuring players from California
4 p.m.: Pelota game with pelotaris from Euskadi (Basque country) — Iker Arreche, Andoni Gaskue, Francisco Javier Oscoz and Iñigo Bikuña Izagirre
Sunday
8 a.m.: Park opens
10 a.m.: Mass with Aita Antton Egiguren, Father Theo and Deacon Fred Ansolabehere, the KCBC Klika, choir, and Dancers
Noon to 2 p.m.: Lunch of barbecue lamb, lamb stew, beans, salad, bread, cheese and a glass of wine ($35, $30 honorary members, $20 for children)
2:30 to 4:30 p.m.: Performance by KCBC Dancers and Klika
5 p.m.: Dinner of lukainka (Basque sausage) or ham and cheese sandwiches ($12)
5 p.m.: Pelota game with pelotaris from Euskadi
7:30 p.m.: Dance with music by Luhartz from Euskadi
8:30 p.m: Drawing, $5 a ticket or five tickets for $20; prizes of $250, $500 and $1,000
Monday
9 a.m.: Basque breakfast will be served at Wool Growers, 620 E. 19th St., on a first come, first served basis while supplies last.
