STANLEY GEROME WHITSON
August 28, 1928 – December 21, 2023
Bass Lake – We regretfully announce the passing of Stanley Gerome Whitson, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Born on August 28, 1928, in Bakersfield, Stanley grew up in a close-knit community and graduated from Kern Union High School. His early years in Bakersfield shaped a lifetime of memories and enduring relationships.
Stanley embarked on a successful career as an electrician, dedicating 33 years of service to Tosco Oil Refinery. His work was not just a job but a testament to his skill and dedication. In the 1980s, Stanley entered retirement, a well-deserved respite after years of commitment to his craft. He chose the serene setting of Bass Lake for his retirement, drawn by its natural beauty and tranquil surroundings.
Despite moving, Stanley never lost his connection to Bakersfield, frequently revisiting the community that was so dear to him. His life was marked by a passion for fast cars, boats, and motorcycles, pursuits that brought him immense joy and adventure. Stanley's love for thrill-seeking was matched only by his love for his family and friends. He was a pillar in his community, often found spending time with his family, neighbors, and church friends. His presence was a source of joy and comfort to those around him.
Stanley's remarkable journey through life was shared with his beloved wife of 73 years, Wanda Jo Whitson. Their enduring love story is an inspiration to all who knew them. He is lovingly remembered by his six grandchildren, Liz Ranalli, Jeffrey Whitson, Jacob Whitson, Carrie Waltner, Jon Stewart, and Rachelle Reed, alongside many great-grandchildren. Each of them carries a piece of his legacy in their hearts.
We invite friends and family to join us in celebrating Stanley's life at a memorial service to be held on February 3, 2024 at 11:00 AM, at The Little Church in the Pines in Bass Lake, California. As we gather to remember Stanley, we celebrate a life well-lived, filled with love, adventure, and unwavering devotion to family and friends.
Rest in peace, Stanley Gerome Whitson. Your memory will forever be a beacon of light in our lives.
