BPD arrests man suspected of vandalizing and burglarizing downtown businesses
A man was arrested on suspicion of burglary, vandalism, trespassing and resisting arrest around 5 a.m. Tuesday at Justin Regan Accounting on the 1800 block of 20th Street, according to the Bakersfield Police Department.
Cody Edwards, 20, is suspected of vandalizing the accounting business and burglarizing Bonnie’s Best Cafe on the 1900 block of 21st Street, according to BPD. Police said he was in possession of property from the cafe.

The identity of the man who was found dead around 8 a.m. Sunday
on the 200 block of Clyde Street was released by the Kern County coroner’s office Tuesday.
Harry Eugene Clark Jr., 66, of Bakersfield was found dead at a home on Clyde Street, according to the coroner.
According to the Bakersfield Police Department, officers responded to reports of an assault Sunday. Detectives arrested Tyrell Cooper the same day on suspicion of murder and other charges related to the incident, according to BPD.
The Kern County coroner’s office on Tuesday released the identity
of the man who was found dead last month at Miracle Hot Springs in Lake Isabella, prompting the hot springs to be closed indefinitely.
William Warden Carroll, 57, of Lake Isabella was found dead around 7:40 a.m. Feb. 17, according to the coroner. The cause and manner of his death are yet to be determined.
The Californian previously reported this is the second time somebody was found dead at the hot springs within the last 16 months. The U.S. Forest Service’s Kern River Ranger District shut down the springs on Feb. 26.
A woman was found dead around 4:30 a.m. Sunday in the Lerdo Pre
Trial Facility, according to the Kern County coroner’s office.
The woman was identified as Jocelin Berly Alvarez, 30, of Los Angeles. Her cause and manner of her death is still being determined, according to the coroner.
The Department of Justice identified human remains found in the Mojave Desert on Nov. 13 by using DNA testing, according to the Kern County coroner office.
The coroner said the remains belonged to Timothy Alan Welch, 56, of Mojave. The cause and manner of his death is still under investigation, according to the coroner.
