Police: 26 people arrested, 11 sent to navigation centers in Old Town Kern cleanup

The Bakersfiel­d Police Department, along with code enforcemen­t, a rapid response team, animal control, Kern County Behavioral Health and Recovery Services and FLOOD conducted an operation Wednesday in Old Town Kern.

The results, according to the BPD: 26 people were arrested; 11 people were placed in navigation centers by FLOOD; four people who were taken to a local mental health center; 18 encampment­s were cleaned and removed; and four dogs were transferre­d to animal control.

The BPD said it would “continue to partner with the community to protect the lives and property of the people we serve.”

A man who was shot in the 8000 block of Harold Street in Lamont

around 6:45 p.m. Thursday was taken to a hospital, according to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office.

No details were given about a suspect.

The Bakersfiel­d Police Department arrested a man at about

4 a.m. Friday in the 2600 block of Chester Avenue who was suspected of burglarizi­ng a business Monday morning.

Christophe­r Alexander, 48, was arrested on suspicion of burglary, vandalism and resisting arrest, according to the BPD.

Officers went to TruConnect in the 2300 block of Chester Avenue around 7 a.m. Monday after receiving reports of a burglary.

According to the BPD, officers identified Alexander using surveillan­ce camera footage. Alexander has been arrested before on suspicion of similar instances in downtown Bakersfiel­d, according to police.
