Police: 26 people arrested, 11 sent to navigation centers in Old Town Kern cleanup
The Bakersfield Police Department, along with code enforcement, a rapid response team, animal control, Kern County Behavioral Health and Recovery Services and FLOOD conducted an operation Wednesday in Old Town Kern.
The results, according to the BPD: 26 people were arrested; 11 people were placed in navigation centers by FLOOD; four people who were taken to a local mental health center; 18 encampments were cleaned and removed; and four dogs were transferred to animal control.
The BPD said it would “continue to partner with the community to protect the lives and property of the people we serve.”
A man who was shot in the 8000 block of Harold Street in Lamont
around 6:45 p.m. Thursday was taken to a hospital, according to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office.
No details were given about a suspect.

The Bakersfield Police Department arrested a man at about
4 a.m. Friday in the 2600 block of Chester Avenue who was suspected of burglarizing a business Monday morning.
Christopher Alexander, 48, was arrested on suspicion of burglary, vandalism and resisting arrest, according to the BPD.
Officers went to TruConnect in the 2300 block of Chester Avenue around 7 a.m. Monday after receiving reports of a burglary.
According to the BPD, officers identified Alexander using surveillance camera footage. Alexander has been arrested before on suspicion of similar instances in downtown Bakersfield, according to police.
