Police looking for missing man with medical condition

A man went missing on the 3800 block of Paseo Airosa around 3:30 p.m. Thursday, according to the Bakersfiel­d Police Department.

Otis Calloway, 64, is described by BPD as Black, 5 feet, 9 inches tall, 180 pounds with black hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a dark sweater and khaki pants. Calloway is considered at-risk due to a medical condition, according to BPD.

The Bakersfiel­d Police Department is looking for a missing teenager who was last

seen Thursday on the 3400 block of 24th Street.

Saif Alghazawi, 16, is described by BPD as Middle Eastern, 6 feet, 1 inch tall, 140 pounds with curly black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a black jacket, black jeans, black boots and a nose piercing.

Two men who were shot to death in Lamont around 7:30 p.m. Feb. 17 were identified by

the Kern County coroner’s office Friday.

According to the coroner, Ernesto Garcia Jr., 32, and Maximilian­o Pineda, 49, both of Lamont, died from multiple gunshot wounds. Garcia died at the scene and Pineda was taken to Kern Medical, where he died around 8:15 p.m.

The Kern County coroner’s office identified the man shot on the 10 block of Monterey

Street around 2:20 a.m. Jan. 28.

Joseph Anthony Reynaga, 27, of Bakersfiel­d died around 3 a.m. after being taken to Kern Medical with multiple gunshot wounds, according to the coroner’s office.

Sgt. Eric Celedon, the public informatio­n officer for the Bakersfiel­d Police Department, said on Feb. 9 that BPD arrested Jorge Garcia on the 500 block of Dublin Manor Court on suspicion of homicide.

A woman died after she was hit by a car at the intersecti­on of Cottonwood and East

Pacheco roads around 8 p.m. Thursday, according to the Bakersfiel­d Police Department.

The man driving the truck that hit the woman stayed at the scene and cooperated with BPD.

The name of the woman will be released by the Kern County coroner’s office at a later time.

A man died after he was hit by a car on Pond Road in Delano around 6:35 a.m.

Thursday, according to the Kern County coroner’s office.

The man was identified as Edward Alba, 58, of Delano.

A man convicted of stabbing a man to death in 2010 was denied parole Tuesday,

according to the Kern County District Attorney’s Office.

Jeffrey Hardin Jr., 38, stabbed Michael Kabonic to death while he was sleeping on Aug. 10, according to the DA’s office. Hardin had moved into a family member’s home, where Kabonic was living, while he was waiting for treatment for substance abuse.

Hardin was sharing a room with Kabonic at the time. Hardin arrived home from work early and went to bed early after being sent to his room to eat his dinner when he was acting bizarrely, according to the DA. Hardin stabbed Kabonic in the stomach and neck, and was arrested the next morning.

Hardin was sentenced to 15 years to life in prison in November 2013. He was issued a three-year denial of parole and his next hearing could be in the next 18 months, according to the DA.

A man convicted of second-degree murder and gross vehicular manslaught­er while

intoxicate­d was denied parole Tuesday, according to the Kern County District Attorney’s Office.

Gustavo Delacruz, 46, hit Taylor Embree, 29, with his car while driving under the influence of methamphet­amine and alcohol while also having a suspended license on Oct. 17, 2013. Delacruz drove over the barrier, going about 85 mph, and hit Embree. Delacruz already had two prior DUI conviction­s, according to the DA’s office.

On March 15, 2016, Delacruz was sentenced to 15 years to life in prison. Delacruz was denied parole for five years.
