Celebrate the new season during CALM’s Spring Fling
Enjoy the new season next week with a variety of family activities at the Spring Fling at California Living Museum.
As an incentive to visit, the zoo is offering $4 admission for visitors between the ages of 3 and 12.
The event will offer crafts, seed planting and other activities as well as keeper chats, held each morning and afternoon from March 26 to 30.
From 9 a.m. to noon each day, CALM’s vet helpers will provide a health check for your favorite stuffed toy. All “patients” will receive an official certificate of health from the team. For those in need of a new stuffed toy friend, the CALM gift store has a wide variety of mammal, bird and reptile stuffies available.
At the same time, there will be surprise animal art presentations.
The Central Valley Children’s Railroad will also be chugging along from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily. Tickets are $2 per person for unlimited rides on the all-ages train.
Hunsaker Brothers food services will sell snack and meal items on site. Guests are also welcome to bring their own picnic lunch.
Musical fun will be provided throughout the day by Mallory Entertainment.
Spring Fling will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 26 to 30 at CALM, 10500 Alfred Harrell Highway, between Lake Ming and Hart Park.
Admission is $4 for children ages 3-12, who must be accompanied by an adult ($10 admission).
There are also volunteer opportunities to help with member check-in, activity tables for the kids, arts/crafts table and seed planting.
Shifts are 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and noon to 4:30 p.m. each day.
Would-be volunteers, who must be at least 16 years of age, can sign up with VolunteerMark at calmzoo.org/volunteers. A step-by-step guide on how to volunteer is available on the portal. Just click on the “Volunteer Portal” button.
