BRING IN THE CLOWNS

-

Just when l begin to think that things can’t get any more confused in the circus called the House of Representatives, it gets better. On Friday, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., filed a motion to vacate House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La. This motion is not privileged. That means they don’t have to act on it right away. They can go ahead and take their two-week spring break. When they return, Greene could possibly make this a privileged motion and the House would have to vote on it in two days.

What is this woman thinking? She is upset because Johnson is working with Democrats to keep our government open and functioning. What a travesty! Bipartisan cooperation? Say it ain’t so! And, what happens if Mr. Johnson goes the way of Kevin McCarthy?

Will it take another four weeks to find someone new? If anyone wants the job. What happens to our government then?

The Republican majority is beginning to look more like Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey. I keep expecting a tiny car to pull up in front of the Capitol and see 25 Republicans get out, each wearing a red nose and floppy shoes. And, there goes MTG, leading the way.

I am a substitute teacher. I teach seventh and eighth grades. How can l get these young people to take our government and our Constitution seriously when they see this kind of petty nonsense called “your tax dollars at work!” or not. Our Congress is supposed to be concerned with making our lives better, not providing prime-time comedy. Come to think of it, maybe a carload of clowns might not be such a bad idea.
