Man found guilty of possessing fentanyl for sale

A man was found guilty Wednesday by a Kern County jury of possessing drugs and drug parapherna­lia with the intention to sell fentanyl, according to the Kern County District Attorney’s Office.

Joe Wayne Young III was found guilty of transporti­ng fentanyl for sale, possessing methamphet­amine and possessing methamphet­amine pipes. On Jan. 4, 2022, the Kern County Probation Department conducted a probation check on Young, according to the DA.

Officers saw Young near his car in Oildale and saw a 30-round Glock magazine in his car, prompting officers to detain Young and search his car.

While searching a backpack in the car, officers found multiple bags with grams of fentanyl and a digital scale, according to the DA. Young intended to sell the fentanyl, according to the DA.

Officers later searched Young’s bedroom and found another digital scale, four methamphet­amine smoking pipes, 0.05 gram of methamphet­amine, two loaded Glock handguns and two additional magazines for the Glocks, the DA’s office reported.

Young faces up to six years and six months in prison, according to the DA. He is scheduled to be sentenced May 1.

A man died in a car crash at about 5:20 p.m. March 26 on Interstate 5 near Copus Road,

according to the Kern County coroner’s office.

Rolando Ceniceros Muniz, 43, of Garden Grove, was the driver of a car that left the road and died at the scene, according to the coroner.

The Kern County coroner’s office confirmed Thursday that a man found dead on Aug. 13,

2023 died of multiple stab wounds.

Joshua Alan Hawkins, 41, was found stabbed by another in the 1700 block of 25th Street in Bakersfiel­d, according to the coroner. His death is considered a homicide.

The Kern Secret Witness program is offering a reward up to $2,500 for

informatio­n on a man who went missing in McFarland three years ago.

Oscar Olivas was last seen in McFarland in April 2021 and went missing under suspicious circumstan­ces.
