A Kern County jury convicted a man Thursday of burglariz
ing the home of an 86-yearold woman who was apprehended by police while he was wearing one of the victim’s necklaces.
Christopher Shane Isquierdo was found guilty Thursday of first-degree burglary, resisting a peace officer and providing false identification to a peace officer, according to the Kern
County
District
Attorney’s
Office.
The victim arrived at her home on July
30 to find it ransacked, with items including jewelry missing. The victim’s grandson spoke to neighbors and found surveillance video that captured Isquierdo at the residence, opening a window and going inside, according to the DA’s office. The victim’s grandson also spoke to numerous homeless people who named Isquierdo as the person in the video, and found him.
Officers arrived and Isquierdo walked away despite their commands to stop. He gave false identifying information once stopped, and was identified by his fingerprints at jail, a DA’s news release said.
Isquierdo faces up to six years in prison when he is to be sentenced May 10 by Judge David Zulfa.
