Family of woman stabbed to death seeks help on case
Almost two years ago, a woman’s body was found on fire with stab wounds on the side of southbound Highway 99 near the off-ramp of Hosking Avenue, and there is still no suspect in the case.
At a press conference Monday at the California Highway Patrol Bakersfield office, CHP officers and Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputies updated the media on the case after the family of the victim wanted to make a statement, encouraging people to help with the investigation, according to Officer Tomas Martinez, CHP Bakersfield’s public information officer.
Around 5 a.m. Dec. 17, 2022, the body of Karla Terron, 27, of San Fernando was found on the side of the highway. According to CHP Officer Jose Bravo, Terron died from multiple stab wounds and her death is considered a homicide.
Six of Terron’s family members came to the press conference Monday. Terron’s aunt, Pamala Rivera, spoke about her niece in Spanish.
“Nobody deserves to die like this,” Rivera said in Spanish.
Rivera said Terron was a good person and a mother to two children who did not deserve to lose their young mother. Rivera said the family has gone through pain and sadness but will never have Terron back and are now seeking justice for her death.
“She should be with us, enjoying life and everything beautiful we have,” Rivera said.
Bravo said Bakersfield law enforcement and the LASD Homicide Bureau are investigating the case. He said Terron’s last known location was in Bakersfield prior to being discovered on the freeway.
Many officers from CHP and LASD attended the conference Monday but due to the ongoing investigation, the officers did not take any questions from the media or release additional
information.
Rivera said her family asks the community to help with the investigation and give any information they have to CHP and LASD. She said no family deserves to go through the pain of losing a family member and Terron’s family needs justice for Karla.
Bravo said CHP and LASD are looking for any information related to the case, specifically asking that anyone who saw any suspicious activity near the area of the Hosking Avenue freeway exit on the night of the incident come forward.
Anyone with information is asked to call California Highway Patrol Bakersfield at 661-396-6600 or contact CHP’s tipline at 661-396-6660.
They can also call the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500.
