The school’s agriculture department will host its Scotsman Market and Plant Sale from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at the school’s farm located across from the campus at 2900 Royal Scots Way.

Students who have grown thousands of plants, herbs, fruit trees and vegetables will now sell them at the market. Attendees can also enjoy food vendors, face painting and more.

Proceeds will support the Highland High School Future Farmers of America program and allow students to learn real-world business skills, agricultural regulations and economics, a Kern High School District news release said.

The city of Bakersfield will hold a free pop-up bulky item drop-off from 8 a.m. to

noon today at 15050 Stockdale Highway.

You can drop off furniture, mattresses, box springs, major appliances, electronics (such as TVs, monitors, computers and printers), water heaters and barbecue grills, but no propane tanks.

There is to be a visit from the Pickleball Pickle Mascot and the Chick-fil-A Cow.

Bakersfield College will hold One-Day Virtual Express Enrollment events for new

An Aug. 7 event at the same time will be held in person at BC Southwest.

“The One-Day Virtual Express Enrollment Event makes it easy for students to handle every aspect in a single day, streamlining the process for them,” Director of Outreach Ashlea Ward said in a news release. “We have support staff with a wide range of expertise to help new and returning students chart the course to achieve their educational goals.”
