Donna Elizabeth Valladares, beloved mother, baby sister, cherished Tia, fun cousin, and friend to all, was born on December 29th, 1964 in Bakersfield, CA. She passed away peacefully on May 10th, 2024 at the age of 59. Donna is now reuniting with her parents Joaquin and Mary Ellen Valladares, her brothers Jack and Jimmy, and partying with several generations of family that she dearly missed and will be excited to see again.

A proud Bakersfield native, she attended Bakersfield High. She graduated from Vista High School, Bakersfield College, and The University of La Verne. But once a Driller, always a Driller.

Donna was deeply involved with the American Cancer Society and served as the Co-Luminaria lead of The Bakersfield Relay for Life. When asked why she volunteered, she recently wrote:

“I fell in love with the cause and the people. I have a daughter, her name is Amanda Bundy and she is my world. She will be getting married in a few weeks. I am currently my great-nieces personal Lyft and a Professional Cheerleader. I love to cheer my great-nieces and nephews games. I am a 2 time cancer survivor. 2 years ago my sister and I were both diagnosed with cancer. She with breast cancer and myself with kidney cancer. Everyone dreams of hearing someone tell you those 3 words “I love you,” But, “you've got cancer...” Not so much. Although cancer is not genetic for my family, we still have 4 generations who have the disease. I Relay so that my daughter only hears the best 3 words, and never the worst.”

Donna's passions were as vibrant as her personality. She was a huge fan of The Condors, LA Dodgers, Raiders, Kevin Harvick, and any food show on TV. She loved showing her love through her talents and her amazing cooking. Donna was the life of the party, always down for a trip to the beach, and loved to drive with the window down, singing along to her favorite songs. Her loud enthusiasm for life and her unwavering support for not only Amanda but the love she had for her family and friends will be deeply missed. Donna's legacy of love, laughter, and dedication to everyone will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Services will be held on Thursday, May 23rd, 2024, at St. Francis of Assisi Parish, 900 H St. A Rosary service will be held at 1:30 pm, followed by Mass at 2:00 pm. The burial will take place at Greenlawn Cemetery, 3700 River Blvd. Reception following at the St. Francis church hall.
