Mike Sorrentino expands resume; Here’s his new ‘Situation’

- Chris Jordan Asbury Park Press USA TODAY NETWORK – NEW JERSEY

A criminal act can get you into a Situation.

Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino from MTV’s “Jersey Shore” will host a new true crime series called “Statue of Limitations,” where real life non-violent criminals tell their crime stories.

“We’ve gathered everyday people to tell their stories about the non-violent crimes they have committed,” said Sorrentino in the series teaser. “We’re not hiding any faces and changing any voices. That’s because for all these people the statute of limitations for their crime has passed. They can’t be tried or convicted in court anymore.”

Sorrentino, a native of Manalapan, has gone from the bad boy of the Seaside Heights boardwalk on the original run of “Jersey Shore” (2009 to 2012) to a beacon of positivity (for the most part) on the new “Jersey Shore Family Vacation,” which debuted in 2018.

Along the way he served eight months in federal prison for tax evasion in 2019.

He currently lives in Holmdel with his wife, Lauren Sorrentino, and their two children. A debut date for Season 7 of “Jersey Shore Family Vacation” has not been announced.

“Statute of Limitations” is co-produced by FilmRise, noted for its true crime shows, including “Bloodline Detectives” hosted by Nancy Grace, and “Meet, Marry, Murder” hosted by Michelle Trachtenberg.

“Take it from me, getting convicted is a very serious situation,” Sorrentino said. “There’s something so captivating about people confessing to the crimes they committed. It gives the criminals a chance to explain why they did it, what they did, and how they pulled it off.”

There will be 10 half-hour episodes of “Statute of Limitations.” Where can you watch it? Nowhere at the moment. FilmRise is working on finding a channel or streaming service.

“Bloodline Detectives” is available on Peacock, Pluto TV and other services. “Meet, Marry, Murder” airs on Lifetime and streams on Netflix, Peacock and Amazon Prime, among others.
