Few knew what to expect in Brian Daboll’s first season as head coach of the New York Giants, a campaign that saw them win nine games in the regular season and then one more in the playoffs, stoking the competitive fire within a franchise that had lost more games in the previous five years than all but one in the NFL.
There’s no questioning this now: Daboll and Big Blue should have earned your respect.
The Giants’ arrow is anticipated to be pointing up, thus the expectations and national spotlight that comes with that.
This is my 14th year as Giants beat writer/columnist for NorthJersey.com and The Record, and after an extended rough patch for one of the league’s storied franchises, things appear to be headed in the right direction.
There’s every reason to believe the Giants have turned the corner with the right people in the front office and on the coaching staff, and several cornerstone players established at premium positions to build around.
