CARLSTADT - Walter Alan Siri, 87, a lifelong resident of Carlstadt, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on August 1, 2023. Mr. Siri proudly served in the U.S. Air Force. Prior to retiring in 2000, he was an educator at Henry P. Becton Regional High School in East Rutherford for 38 years. Walter was a member of the Eclipse Lodge #67 F.&A.M. in Rutherford for over 50 years, Fidelity Chapter R.A.M. #49, North Jersey Past Masters Masonic Assoc., Lyndhurst Masonic Club, Salaam Shrine and the Salaam Shrine’s Shepherd’s Club. He was a member of the American Legion Post 69 in Carlstadt and the Boy State Chairman from 1985-2023. He was a longtime member and Elder at the First Presbyteri­an Church in Carlstadt and a member of the Men’s Club. He was a member of the Carlstadt Senior Friendship Club and the Becton Education Assoc. He served as a councilman in Carlstadt in 2004, was on the Carlstadt Planning Board from 2002-2016 and the Carlstadt Board of Education from 1968-1983. He was an umpire for the Carlstadt Little League from 1968-1985. Beloved husband of the late Joyce (nee Meyers) Siri. Loving father of Walter Alan Siri, Jr and his wife Bo and John Scott Siri and his wife Debra. Cherished grandfathe­r of J. Scott Siri, Jr., Heather Nicole Siri and Derek Alan Siri. Dear brother of the late Blanche Siri, Eugene Siri and Warren Siri. Caring uncle of many nieces and nephews. Funeral departing from the Kimak Funeral Home, 425 Broad Street, Carlstadt on Monday, August 7, 2023 at 9:30 AM for a Funeral Service in the Carlstadt First Presbyteri­an Church at 10:00 AM. Cremation will be private. Visitation Sunday 4-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shriners Children’s Hospital, 3551 N. Broad St., Philadelph­ia, PA 19140 or the Carlstadt First Presbyteri­an Church, 457 Division Ave., Carlstadt, NJ 07072.
