ENGLEWOOD - Herbert (Herb) Goldman, age 97, of Englewood passed away on November 5. He is predecease­d by his parents Julius and Rose Goldman, his wife of almost 69 years, Tamara, and his son Eliot. He is survived by his brother Larry, sons and spouses Glenn (Elizabeth) and Barry (Laurie); six grandchild­ren, Aaron, Nathan, Jason, Jacob, Seth, and Ethan; and seven great grandchild­ren, Talia, Rafi, Aiden, Shira, Tyler, Evan, and Brooks. Born and raised in Jersey City, NJ he made his home with his family in Englewood, where he lived for more than 60 years, and spent the last five years in Teaneck. Herb was president of Jewel Electric Supply Company in Jersey City and ran the business with his brother Larry until they sold it three weeks shy of Herb’s 91st birthday. Following high school, he elected to join the Navy because “he liked to swim” and served during World War II, after which he completed his schooling with a BA from Columbia and then a BS in Engineerin­g from NYU. An avid swimmer, he was always at home in the water. Forever available to help family, he served as an active volunteer for Boy Scout Troop 27 in Englewood when his children were younger and loved entertaini­ng his grandchild­ren when he had the opportunit­y. He was proud of how long he was able to work, announcing he was celebratin­g his 90th birthday at the store “because I can.” Funeral services and interment were held at Cedar Park & Beth El Cemeteries in Paramus.

As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Herb’s memory to the Jewish Federation of Northern New Jersey, Hadassah, or the Teaneck Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
