SAN DIEGO - Camarillo - Ned Pendergast passed away peacefully surrounded by family on February 2, 2024, at the age of 86.

He was born November 28, 1937, in Cresskill, NJ to the parents of Norbert and Gladys Pendergast. Ned married his high school sweetheart Joan Melnyk Pendergast in 1958. He and Joan moved to Camarillo, CA in 1979 with their three daughters.

Ned would describe himself as a simple gardener. He ran a successful landscape contracting business, for over 50 years and was very talented in making outside spaces look beautiful. He had an extraordinary green thumb with the ability to grow anything.

Ned could light up a room with his laughter and stories. He enjoyed traveling with Joan to many tropical places. He took pleasure in journaling during the quiet moments every morning. Ned wanted to share those writing as an inspiration to people, so he published two inspirational/poetry books of his favorite journal entries.

Ned is survived by his three daughters Wendy Fendrick (Bruce), Cindy Struck, Tracy Pendergast (Chris), 5 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, his sister (Lynne Ferdon) and brother (Norbert Pendergast).

He was preceded in death by his wife Joan Pendergast of 63 years. His parents and brother (Bart Pendergast).

Ned will be truly missed by his family, friends, and any individual that has ever met him. He was a warm, friendly, and generous person that has left a hole in our hearts until we meet again in heaven. A poem from his daughters: Our father kept a garden. A garden of the heart; He planted all the good things, That gave our lives their start. He turned us to the sunshine, And encouraged us to dream: Fostering and nurturing The seeds of self-esteem. And when the winds and rain came, He protected us enough; But not too much because he knew We would stand up strong and tough. His constant good example, Always taught us right from wrong; Markers for our pathway that will last a lifetime long. We are our Fathers garden, We are his legacy. -Author Unknown
