GLEN ROCK - Albert Joseph Scotti, 81, of Glen Rock, New Jersey, peacefully passed away with his family around him on Thursday, March 21, 2024 from complications of Parkinson’s Disease. Regarded by family and friends as a kind, loving, and gentle man, Albert devoted his entire life to his family’s well-being, never giving a thought to himself. People always called Albert a “gentleman.” Albert was born to Frieda and Albert Scotti in New York City on July 14,1942. He attended Saint Anne’s Academy in NYC and Archbishop Malloy All-Boys High School in Queens, NY where he was a long-distance runner on the track team. As a high school student, Albert worked part-time selling theater tickets for Broadway shows, and that sparked a lifelong interest in Broadway theater. He earned a BS in Finance from NYU in 1964 and served in the U.S. Army as a Personnel Specialist at Georgetown University during the Vietnam War. Albert embarked on a career on Wall Street, transitioning to American Can Co., and culminating at Volvo Cars of North America in Rockleigh, NJ as Treasurer. Albert met the love of his life, Annette, at a high school dance when he was 15 years old and married her when he was 22. Albert is survived by his wife, Annette; their three children: Suzette, son-in-law Didier, Regina, Stephen and daughter-in-law Renée. Loving grandfather to Julia and Jake. In addition to his love of musical theater, Albert could be found every year cheering on the horses that he and his son had bet on at OTB and riveted by the Triple Crown horse race. He was a weekend boater, an aficionado of opera, and an enthusiastic investor in the stock market. He also loved watching Glen Rock High School football games. In the past 15 years, Albert had previously survived a quadruple-heart bypass, lymphoma, and cranial surgery for a brain bleed. For the past 5 years, Albert was lovingly cared for by his wife at home for late-stage Parkinson’s and dementia. Albert’s family will host a wake on Tuesday, April 2nd from 3:00 -7:00 PM at the Vander Plaat Colonial Home, (vpfairlawn.com), 13-31 Saddle River Rd., Fair Lawn, NJ 07410. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, April 3rd at 10:00 AM at St. Catherine’s Church, 905 South Maple Ave., Glen Rock, NJ 07452. Interment will follow at Valleau Cemetery in Ridgewood. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation in Albert’s memory to the Parkinson’s Foundation at www.parkinson.org.
