OAKLAND, NJ - Francis Robert (Frank) Schwarz, 74, of Oakland, New Jersey, passed away on March 28 in Ridgewood, New Jersey. Frank was born in Jersey City, New Jersey, to Bernadette (Martin) Schwarz and Joseph J. Schwarzenb­erger on May 29, 1949. He went to high school at St. Aloysius High School and graduated in 1967. He went on to earn a BA in English from Jersey City State College, and later, a teaching certificat­e. He taught ESL/civics/GED classes at Paterson Adult School after a career in banking. He participat­ed in Activities Unlimited and was a member of its book club. He was also a member of the Oakland Senior Citizens’ Club and the NJREA. Frank was an avid sports follower and an original Mets fan. He is dearly missed by his family, including his wife Deborah; his daughter Mary Ellen of Albany, NY; his brother Joseph and his wife Martha Caress of Brooklyn, NY; his sister Mary Schwarzenb­erger of Milford, NJ; stepchildr­en William Siss and his wife Madigan of Harwinton, CT; Emily Smolin and her husband David of Scarboroug­h, ME; Greta Buerkle (and former spouse, Jason Sr.) of Keyport, NJ; and his seven grandchild­ren: Jason Jr., Ella Mae, Charlotte, Eli, Elsa, Laurel, and Natalie. He is predecease­d by his son Michael. A viewing will be held at Oakland Memorial Home located at 330 Ramapo Valley Road, Oakland, on Tuesday, April 2 from 3 to 7 pm. A mass will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help located at 25 Purdue Ave., Oakland, on Wednesday, April 3 at 9:30 am. Memorial donations may be made to the Oakland Police Department and Oakland First Aid Squad.
