The upcoming Bob Dylan biopic “A Complete Unknown” starring Timothée Chalamet has been filming around the Garden State, including the Jersey Shore on April 11.

“DON’T FORGET! Bahrs Landing (in Highlands) will be closed ALL DAY to allow filming for the Bob Dylan biopic movie ‘A Complete Unknown.’ We had hoped to be open later in the day but filming will be longer than previously expected!” said the restaurant on Instagram. “We are so excited to have this opportunity for our restaurant to be featured! We will reopen Friday, tomorrow morning for normal hours! See you there.”

Jay Cosgrove, owner of Bahrs Landing, said about 50 people in the crew showed up early.

“They’ve been setting up all day,” he said.

Cosgrove said the restaurant is supposed to be a diner during the Newport Folk Festival. Dylan played with Peter, Paul and Mary, and other performers, at the 1963 festival. He also performed in 1964, and made headlines in 1965 for playing a concert with electric instruments.

After shooting at Bahrs, filming was supposed to take place at Count Basie Center for the Arts in Red Bank, Cosgrove said. There are at least two crews for the New Jersey shoot, he added.

Jon Vena, chief marketing officer at the Basie, said he “cannot confirm nor deny, unfortunately,” when asked if filming is taking place at the theater.

Trailers have been seen at the nearby Molly Pitcher Inn.

“A Complete Unknown” shot scenes recently at The White Mana in Jersey City.

Jerry Nardella, who works for New Jersey entertainment developers, said the film still may have another two months of shooting, but he could not confirm whether more scenes would be in New Jersey.

No release date has been announced for the movie, which also stars Monica Barbaro as Joan Baez, Boyd Holbrook as Johnny Cash, and Edward Norton as Pete Seeger. This is not Bahrs Landing’s first taste of fame. In 2022, the big “Sopranos” Super Bowl reunion took place at the restaurant. Actress Jamie-Lynn Sigler, who played Meadow Soprano on the series, drove to meet Robert Iler, the actor who played brother A.J. Soprano, in the Super Bowl commercial that replicated the opening credits of the classic Jersey crime drama series.

The Dylan pic is just the latest film to be shot at the Shore. Between March and April 2023, “Mean Girls” was shot in the building that used to be Middletown’s Mater Dei Prep High School, with hundreds of young New Jerseyans who were cast as extras.
