Travolta keeps making the scene around town
Actor John Travolta was spotted filming more of his new movie, “The Forger,” on the Commonwealth Avenue Mall near Arlington Street on Monday. He shared the scene with actress Abigail
Spencer, whose resume includes “Oz: The Great and Powerful,” “Cowboys & Aliens,” and the upcoming adaptation of Jonathan
Tropper’s “This Is Where I Leave You” (which also stars Tina Fey, Jason Bateman, Rose Byrne, and Jane Fonda). We expect that Spencer will stick around to see her movie “Kilimanjaro” screen as part of the Boston Film Festival on Saturday. That one is about a guy who deals with his relationship angst by trying to hike Mount Kilimanjaro. . . . In other Travolta news, he was surrounded by a pack of fans who were at the Liberty Hotel on Saturday night for a 50th birthday celebration. The ladies tell us that when the elevator opened and they saw Travolta inside, they jumped in and took pictures with him. (It appears he didn’t mind.) Travolta was also spotted at Empire Asian Restaurant & Lounge on Saturday night with his wife, Kelly Preston. ... “Sex Tape” or “Basic Math” — better known as the local comedy starring Cameron Diaz and Jason Segel — was set to film at Old Everett High School on Monday. The building was also used for the 2012 Kevin James comedy, “Here Comes the Boom.” . . . Director James Mangold had his cameras rolling in Milton on Monday, but he wasn’t making a movie. We’re told Mangold, whose impressive resume includes “Girl, Interrupted,” “Walk the Line,” and the made-in-Massachusetts “Knight and Day,” starring Tom
Cruise and Diaz, was hard at work shooting a commercial for Chrysler. Our source says a lot of the crew is from Detroit and one of them objected, good naturedly, when a neighbor walked by wearing a Red Sox shirt.
