VALWAY, Pauline Buckley

-

Of Needham, passed away peacefully, at her home on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at the age of 96. She was born in Boston on April 15, 1927 to John Buckley and Sarah Conway Buckley. Pauline was a generous, kind and loving lady. If we all lived our lives like Pauline Valway, this world would be a happier and more loving place.

Pauline was raised in Malden and graduated from Chevrus High School. In May of 1955, Pauline married the love of her life, Daniel Valway. Pauline and Dan were part of a large closeknit group of BC friends. Pauline enjoyed many years of adventures and gatherings with this special group.

She worked for the telephone company in the Boston area until she and Dan moved to Alexandria, Virginia, where Pauline worked for the telephone company at the White House during the Ford Administration. After seven years, they returned to Needham where Pauline worked as a supervisor at New England Telephone in Newton, where she made many lifetime friends. Upon retirement, Pauline volunteered at Needham’s Glover Hospital. Pauline lived in Needham for 68 years and the “Valway Villa” was always open for family parties and cookouts.

We know the gates of heaven were wide-open to greet Pauline as she joined the family that had gone before her, including her loving husband,

Dan; her parents; her siblings, Louise Buckley, Marie Buckley-Campbell,

Tom Buckley, John Buckley, William Buckley, Faith Buckley-Grady and Grace Buckley-Joyce; and her dear nephews, Christopher Joyce and Shawn Grady. “Auntie Pauline” is survived by three generations of nieces and nephews who adored her.

The Buckley family extends their heartfelt thanks to Pauline’s caretakers, friends, and extended family members for their loving and unwavering support during her final years. The Funeral
