Lynn Classical rolls vs. Medford

- By Greg Levinsky GLOBE CORRESPONDENT Greg Levinsky reported from Medford. Globe correspondents Nate Weitzer and AJ Traub contributed to this report.

Halfway through the opening quarter of Lynn Classical’s 38-14 victory over host Medford in Thursday night’s Greater Boston League clash, it was apparent receiver John Nasky and quarterback Brian Vaughan Jr. were conducting a football masterclass in the passing game.

Nasky (8 catches, 130 yards, 3 touchdowns) reeled in the game’s opening TD on Vaughan Jr.’s perfectly executed 24-yard fade pass. It was the first of Vaughan’s four touchdowns passes on the night, and first of three scoring tosses he threw to the 5-foot11-inch, 180-pound senior wideout, completing 17 of 26 attempts for 228 yards.

On his second TD catch, Nasky evaded three defenders on a screen play and broke away for a 39-yard score. And for the finale, Nasky flashed through the slot on a red-zone play, reeling in a 5-yard TD catch in heavy end zone traffic.

“I’ve got to be able to provide for my team the same way they provide for me,” Nasky said.

Nasky and Vaughan combined to give Lynn Classical a 22-0 lead with 4:48 remaining in the first quarter to help the Rams (3-1) pull away early. RJ Faessler added a 2-yard rushing score to effectively put the game out of reach, 30-0, as Medford struggled to contain the Rams’ high-powered offense and muster any kind of a response in the first half.

“[Nasky and Faessler] are my brothers,” said Vaughan Jr. “I’d do anything for those guys and love them to death. I just love being on the field with them.”

Westwood 39, Medway 21 — Devin Hunt tossed five touchdowns for the Wolverines (2-1) in the Tri-Valley League win. Andrew Weeman caught scores of 25 and 13 yards, with Jack Crowley, Thomas Warren, and Charlie Toole accounting for the other three TD catches.

Milford 48, Attleboro 14 — Junior receiver Andrew Rivera (7 catches, 144 yards) caught four touchdowns from Jack Buckley (11-for-17 passing, 184 yards), who tacked on a pair of rushing scores while leading the fifthranked Scarlet Hawks (4-0) in a Hockomock League win.

King Philip 28, Taunton 7 — Aiden Astorino rushed for two touchdowns behind a dominant offensive line as the fourth-ranked Warriors (4-0) rolled to a Hockomock League victory in Taunton.

Hingham 28, Plymouth North 8 — Will St. Pierre rushed for 218 yards and a pair of touchdowns and Chase Beighley added a 16-yard TD run to power the Harbormen (1-3) to the Patriot League win.
