Of Newton, MA, died suddenly on December 1, 2023 at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA. Alice was born on September 9, 1933 in Homestead, PA to the late Mabel and Libby Christian.

Alice was raised in Providence Forge, VA, and went through the Charles City, VA public school system. She graduated from Ruthville High School in 1952 and matriculat­ed into Virginia Union University. Upon graduation from Virginia Union, she continued her studies at Mercy Douglass School of Nursing in Philadelph­ia, PA for three years. After receiving her nursing degree at 1959, she worked as an operating room nurse at Philadelph­ia General Hospital.

Whilst at Philadelph­ia General Hospital, she met the love of her life,

Dr. Sylvan L. Campbell (intern). She married him in April 1963, and they had their only child, a son, Steven, in November 1964. She and her family moved to Boston in order for her husband to continue his residency in Obstetrics/Gynecology.

She was a loving wife and mother. In addition to that, she worked with her husband in his private practice in Roxbury and Mattapan for many years prior to retiring. She resided with her husband until his death in 2020 and then with her son in Newton.

She is survived by her son, Steven Lloyd Campbell of Newton, MA; her nieces: Amy Jordan (Charles City, VA) & Gail Adkins (Charles City, VA), Monica Christian (Providence Forge, VA), and Connie Miffin (Richmond, VA); her nephews: Mitchell Christian (Tacoma, WA) and Kim Christian (Charles City, VA); numerous great-nieces/nephews, other extended family members and friends.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at 10:00 am at Riley-Antoine Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be at 11:00 am.
