CARPENTER, Anne Marie (McMellen)
Age 83, of Ogunquit, ME and Port St. Lucie, FL, died peacefully on January 2, 2024. Daughter of the late Margaret (Griffin) and Edward J. McMellen of Medford, MA. Anne Marie was the beloved wife of Michael R. Carpenter for 51 years, who predeceased her in 2018. Loving mother to Amy Spector (Carpenter) and her husband, Marc of Sudbury, MA. Devoted grandmother to Emma, Michael and Ryan Spector. Dear sister-in-law of Jayne McMellen of Palm City, FL; cherished aunt of Edward J. McMellen, III of Scituate and Elizabeth White of Powder Springs, GA. She was predeceased by her brother, Edward J. McMellen, Jr. Anne Marie was a graduate of Malden Catholic High School and Emmanuel College, class of 1962. A biochemist, Anne Marie began her career doing research at Arthur D. Little before raising her family. When she returned to the workforce, she used her science background and fond love of cooking to create a career in the food science industry. Nothing gave her greater pleasure than being surrounded by her family and close friends. She was immensely proud of her grandchildren and always enjoyed a front row seat at all of their academic and sporting events.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Visitation on Saturday, January 6, 2024, from 8:30AM to 9:30AM, at the Haisley Tribute Center. A Mass will immediately follow at 10AM, at St. Bernadette Catholic Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Anne Marie may be made to the Marginal Way Preservation Fund, at www.marginalwayfund.org She loved Ogunquit and preserving it’s beautiful seaside community for her family to enjoy for generations to come.
