Age 90, of Boynton Beach, FL, formerly of Medford and Reading, MA, passed away, Wednesday morning, January 3, 2024.

Tom’s family and friends would describe him as one of a kind. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, a dedicated grandfathe­r and a beloved friend, colleague and teammate. He will be deeply missed and he’ll be remembered for all the love, support and joy he brought to the lives of those around him.

Tom was born on January 8, 1933. He grew up in Medford and attended

St. Joseph School. He then attended Malden Catholic High School, where he was class president for three years, captain of the hockey team and inducted into the school’s Hall of Fame.

Tom continued his education at Boston University, where he played hockey and captained the team. He was a member of ROTC and, upon graduation, was commission­ed as a

2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force, based at Whitman AFB in Missouri and Ellington AFB in Newfoundla­nd.

Upon his successful Air Force years, Tom returned home and was hired by the Gillette Co. in South Boston. He earned his MBA from Northeaste­rn University and continued at Gillette in various management positions for 26 years. He proceeded to work as a professor at Boston University, teaching both graduate and undergradu­ate, for 22 years, until his retirement. He was also an instructor with Dale Carnegie for over ten years.

Tom is survived by his wife of 69 years, Barbara; children, Tom Dwyer and Leslie Gent and her husband,

Peter; grandchild­ren, Patrick Gent and his wife, Lindsey, Meredith Reid and her husband, Jack and Tara Dwyer; great-grandchild­ren, Rory, Rowen, Rhys, Hayden and Will. He also leaves two sisters, Cathy Weckel of Bel Air, MD and Sister Mary Dwyer of Nazareth, KY.

Funeral arrangemen­ts will be private.
